In this episode, we get Angel’s origin story. Which I guess should tell us exactly what’s about to happen to Angel. But I digress. Continue reading →

It’s Valentine’s Day, so everyone is having love trouble. Xander gets dumped by Cordy, who can’t deal with the possibility of getting kicked out of the Plastics. Buffy is dealing with the worst kind of post-breakup Valentine’s, since she has to contend with not just loneliness, but an ex who is known to nail his girlfriends’ puppies to their doors. Even Giles is still giving Ms. Calendar the silent treatment after the Angel debacle. Only Willow and Oz are happy, because Oz is a treasure, and Xander almost f*cks it up! Continue reading →

We pick up right where we left off: Buffy is fighting with Kendra, who claims that she’s also a Slayer. They agree to a detente, and with Giles’ help, they figure out that Kendra was called when Buffy died for a few minutes in “Prophecy Girl.” Twist! Continue reading →

One of my favorite MOW episodes! We start with a random classmate named Wendell, never seen before and never to be seen again, who opens his book in class, only to find a bunch of giant tarantulas crawling out of the pages. The Scooby Gang gets on the case, and finds out that Wendell has a recurring nightmare about spiders attacking him. A bunch of other weird, nightmarish things start happening: Giles gets lost in the stacks of the library, time starts speeding up during Buffy’s history test, and then Xander spontaneously finds himself in his underwear in class. Classic. Continue reading →
Welcome to Veronica Mars Season 4! Fair warning: this is not going to be some objective critique-y recap. Your recapper, who Was Watching Veronica Mars Before It Was Cool, is basically just a big old fangirl who’s excited for her favorite show to come back.
Anyway, I’m getting started on this a bit late because I decided at the last minute to marathon the entire show before watching Season 4, which I’m very glad I did: it made me realize that all the fandom complaints about season 3 were honestly kind of unfounded. The mystery was twisty, the jokes were still great, and Veronica was an ever-more-layered and interesting character. Yeah, Piz was a drag, but Veronica was in college: most people have a Piz in college. (And most people, at one point or another, are the Piz.)
And with that brief apologia for Season 3, we’re off to season 4!
Here it is. The episode that made me stop watching the show. Continue reading →
Walt Breaks Bad–again. But really. For reals this time. Continue reading →
Walt is in remission! Will anything change? Will he go back to his law-abiding ways? I’m on the edge of my seat. Continue reading →
OK, you know what? This episode was fabulous. Is it possible all we were missing this season was a really fun villain? Because holy crap, this week’s villain–who is, by extension, revealed to be this entire season’s superbaddie–is getting a kick out of her evil role. And in turn, I am getting a real kick out of the episode.
